BSc, PhD
Mike Swain is the Professor of Biomaterials at the Faculty of Dentistry, at the University of Sydney. He has a multitude of publications, has received multi research grants and is recognized internationally as an expert in his field.
He obtained his BSc and PhD in Physics from the University of NSW and has held positions in the USA, UK, France and Germany before working with CSIRO in the Advanced Ceramics Group that developed toughened zirconia ceramics in the late 70's.
Over the past decade since moving to Sydney University he and colleagues have focused on dental materials research with a considerable emphasis on the properties and microstructure of teeth and bone.
