Dr Michelle Heffernan holds a conjoint appointment with the University of Sydney, where she is the Head of Discipline of Endodontics and Senior Clinical Lecturer. She also provides surgical and non-surgical endodontic treatment for patients at the Sydney Dental Hospital.

Michelle’s dental career started at the University of Pittsburgh (USA) where she obtained a degree in dental hygiene and then her dental degree. Her specialist training was obtained at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Her research received awards at the AAE meeting in Dallas in 2005 and in Hawaii in 2006. While teaching at the University of North Carolina, she also received the Surgeon teaching excellence award in 2005. Prior to relocating to Sydney, she practiced in a private endodontic practice in Scottsdale, Arizona, USA.

Michelle has lectured in the USA and Australia on topics including: dental trauma, Cvek pulpotomies, root filling materials, and pain management.
