Adjunct Associate Professor Chan graduated from the University of Sydney in 1977, where he later obtained the degree of Master of Dental Surgery. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, College of Dental Surgeons of Hong Kong (Prosthodontics), Hong Kong Academy of Medicine, Pierre Fauchard Academy and the International College of Dentists.
He has completed surgical and prosthodontic training programs at the University of Sydney, the Branemark Centre in Perth and the Branemark Clinic in Gothenburg, Sweden. He has published in international and Australian journals and has lectured extensively on restorative and implant dentistry in Australia, New Zealand, North America and South-East Asia. He has been involved in undergraduate and post-graduate teaching since 1978 and is an Adjunct Associate Professor. He is the co-ordinator for several implant training courses for Continuing Education in Dentistry and the Graduate Diploma in Oral Implants at the University of Sydney.
Dr Chan was a past President of the Australasian Osseointegration Society (NSW) Inc. and is in private practice limited to implant surgery and prosthodontics in Sydney.
