Overview
This one day program will enhance dental professionals understanding of the aetiology and pathogenesis of periodontal diseases, including the rapidly advancing research areas of oral plaque biofilms and oral-systemic disease interactions.

Discussion will centre on evidence based bio-film management and current methods of restoring and maintaining peri-implant tissues health.

TOPICS

An understanding of the current concepts of periodontal pathogenesis and aetiology
An appreciation of the role of genetic susceptibility and smoking as risk factors for periodontal disease
Diagnosis of peri-implant tissue disease and the restoration and maintenance of peri-implant tissue health
An understanding of the biologic plausibility of periodontal-systemic disease interactions and an appreciation of the current evidence from intervention studies and associated research in the area of periodontal medicine
Evidence-based non-surgical maintenance of periodontal and peri-implant tissues
