OVERVIEW

Participants are required to bring four extracted furcal teeth accessed for endodontic instrumentation as well as safety glasses/loupes. All other materials will be provided.

This course is designed to acquaint the operator with the use of the Mtwo rotary system for endodontic preparation. Unlike many other rotary NiTi preparation systems the Mtwo system uses only four instruments which are all designed to be placed to working length. This greatly simplifies endodontic preparation in the majority of canal systems, be they curved or straight. Filling the resulting canal preparations is carried out using a condensation technique utilising a heat source for both vertical and lateral condensation.

As with any endodontic procedure the cornerstone to success is good access which cannot be neglected. The use of the operating microscope to assist in this essential component of endodontic therapy will be demonstrated.

TOPICS

The importance of endodontic diagnosis and case planning
What concepts are traditionally associated with endodontic instrumentation?
The benefits of magnification
Crown down techniques and benefits with emphasis on the crown down nature of rotary techniques
Instrument sequence and equipment required during treatment utilising the Mtwo system
Integration of these concepts and instruments into practice
The advantages of using an apex locator in endodontic treatment
The status of current endodontic obturation techniques and how rotary preparation has made lateral condensation more predictable

At the end of the day participants should:

Understand the benefits of rotary instrumentation in their endodontic practice
Learn and practise a new technique in the use of rotary instruments
Be able to prepare a tooth using rotary instruments with torque control motors
Understand how the introduction of Apex Locators may be useful in your practice
Feel confident to take what you have learned and implement it into practice
Become comfortable with different obturation techniques
Obtain predictable results with endodontics using rotary techniques
Increase the success rate of endodontic cases
Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of your work and reduce frustration and clinical failures

All attendees will receive a free Mtwo basic kit, valued at $200 courtesy of Gunz Dental lion
