Message from the Director

As we look toward 2010 when dental professional development becomes mandatory, we are reminded of the commitment the Committee for Continuing Education in Dentistry has maintained during the past 62 years. The University of Sydney was the first in NSW to offer dental education on an undergraduate, postgraduate and professional development level.

The University of Sydney Continuing Education in Dentistry program is now a benchmark in the Australian dental profession and is regarded highly not only within Australia but abroad. We provide the courses and up-skilling programs to improve your dental practice outcomes.

We will see new-comers to the market attempting to provide dental education in the next few years, but you need to ask if the education is topical, non-biased and evidence based because your patients require treatment plans which will stand the test of time.
The courses and conferences on offer in this booklet will arm you with the knowledge and skills you need to progress your practice, not only this year but in years ahead.

We face a global financial crisis, but now is the time you need to prepare yourself and your practice staff to face what lies ahead and position yourself at best, within your market place. Your level of skills and dental knowledge will position you favourably with your patients if you continue to stay abreast of the latest dental procedures and technologies.

The program the Committee for Continuing Education and I have put together for 2009 will provide you with the updates you require to make your practice outcomes not only improve but excel.
I encourage each and every dental professional to enroll in a course or conference contained within our program because if you are not up-to-date with your practice and dental procedures, you will allow your competitors to have the upper hand, as well as the client base.

The next couple of years will be uneasy, but by up-skilling, you will place yourself at the forefront to challenge the difficult times which lie ahead.
